Tempted, but without Sin

“Since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but he was tempted in every way, just like we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews
4.15).

How great is it to know that Jesus was and is who he is? It is so uplifting to remember the
wonderful things our Lord has done for us. Christ came to earth and lived as a man (Philippians 2.7). As a man, Jesus encountered all types of temptations, just like we do in our lives.

The greatest thing about Jesus, however, is that he overcame every instance he was tempted and remained without sin throughout his life. Jesus was sinless.

We should be so thankful that Christ lived without sin and that he is our high priest. He intercedes, comes between God and us, for our sins. If it were not for Christ’s perfect life and perfect sacrifice, we would not be able to share in the blessings of heaven and the mercy of God (John 1.16).

When we struggle, we can take great comfort in knowing that Jesus has been there before and that
he understands what we are going through. He endured the trials of humanity, and remained sinless, so that he could provide us forgiveness and relief from our sins. One of the greatest things about Christ being our high priest and sinless is this: that we may “approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

Thank you, God, for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Be the light! –JD
